The Lie That You Need Permission to Obey God
[00:00] Opening Hook
What if the thing you’ve been waiting for…
The affirmation.
The recognition.
The green light from someone you respect.
What if that was never actually required?
What if the only permission you ever needed was the one God already gave you?
Today we need to talk about the waiting room.
[00:45] The Waiting Room of Calling
So many believers live in the waiting room of their calling.
They feel something stirring in their spirit.
They sense a direction.
They know there is something God is asking them to do.
But they won’t move until someone else confirms it.
They wait for affirmation.
They wait for a leader to notice.
They wait for someone to say, “Yes, I see that in you.”
But here’s the uncomfortable question:
What if God already spoke?
What if the delay is not about clarity…
But courage?
What if the waiting room is not a holy pause…
But a fear response dressed up as patience?
Because throughout Scripture, God regularly called people into assignments that made no sense to everyone else.
Noah built a boat when it had never rained.
Abraham left his homeland without knowing where he was going.
Esther walked into a throne room where she could have been executed.
God’s invitations rarely come with public approval.
They come with obedience tests.
[04:00] The Trap of Human Approval
Galatians 1:10 says:
“Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?”
Paul understood something powerful.
You cannot serve two masters.
If human approval controls you, obedience to God becomes almost impossible.
Because the moment following God costs you someone’s approval…
You will choose approval every time.
Until you decide you won’t.
Approval is addictive.
It feels good.
It feels safe.
It feels like wisdom.
But spiritual assignments suffocate when they depend on it.
If you need everyone to agree with what God told you, you will miss most of what He asks you to do.
Because God frequently calls people to move before it makes sense.
And the enemy loves the waiting room.
Because delayed obedience often becomes permanent disobedience.
Not because people choose to disobey all at once.
But because waiting long enough begins to feel normal.
The calling gets quieter.
Life gets louder.
And one day…
You stop hearing it altogether.
That is exactly what the enemy is counting on.
[07:30] The Prophetic War on Identity
And this is what the enemy does not want you to know.
God designed His children to abide in Him…
And to carry His Spirit into the earth.
Joel 2 says:
“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.”
Daughters.
Not forgotten.
Not sidelined.
Not spiritually insignificant.
Filled with the Spirit of God.
Why?
To testify.
To proclaim the death of Jesus.
The resurrection of Jesus.
The conquering of sin and death.
And the coming return of Christ to fully crush the enemy forever.
And though we are still in the battle now…
The victory is already sealed because of the cross.
Satan is fighting from a defeated position.
And he hates that truth.
So what does he try to do?
He tries to kill the prophetic voice.
He tries to silence the daughters of God before they ever realize who they are, what they carry, and what they were sent into the earth to proclaim.
And we see this spirit all throughout Scripture.
Especially through Jezebel.
There is a full-force war on identity right now.
Especially on the identity of God’s daughters.
In Judges 2, we begin seeing Israel turn away from God and into idol worship.
And this spirit hates righteousness.
It hates covenant.
It hates holiness.
It hates the image of God inside His people.
And how does it attack?
Through defilement.
Before Jesus, the temple was a physical place, separated by a veil from the holy presence of God.
But then Jesus came.
And He tore the veil.
He made a way for us to abide in God…
To be indwelled by the Holy Spirit.
So now we are the temple.
And if we are the temple…
What does the enemy want to defile now?
Our bodies.
Our minds.
Our identity.
Our worship.
This is a war on God’s temple.
God’s Spirit.
And God’s voice going forth through His people again.
And women are coming into agreement with this every single day without realizing what spiritual contracts they are signing.
Through lust.
Comparison.
Image worship.
Bitterness.
Rebellion.
Sexual brokenness.
Counterfeit empowerment.
Self-obsession.
Agreement with lies.
How do I know?
Because I did it.
I came into agreement with destruction thinking it was freedom.
And underneath it all was a war against covenant identity.
A war against abiding in God.
In 1 Kings 18:4, Jezebel was murdering the prophets of the Lord.
Why?
Because darkness always tries to silence the voices carrying truth.
And we are watching that same war happen right now.
Not always through physical death.
But through distraction.
Seduction.
Confusion.
Insecurity.
Shame.
Addiction.
Identity distortion.
Because if the enemy can keep women distracted, broken, numb, self-obsessed, and spiritually disconnected…
Then their voices never fully rise.
But God is calling His daughters back.
Back to truth.
Back to covenant.
Back to holiness.
Back to identity.
Back to power through surrender to Jesus Christ.
[13:00] Faith Was Never Designed to Look Reasonable
Faith was never designed to look reasonable.
It looks like obedience before certainty.
It looks like moving when you do not have all the answers.
It looks like trusting the voice that called you more than the voices that question you.
When you stop needing permission from people who did not give you the calling…
You begin walking in a kind of freedom that terrifies the enemy.
Because a woman who moves in obedience without waiting for a committee to approve it is unpredictable.
And unpredictable people change things.
You do not need the full plan.
You do not need public agreement.
You need one step.
Just the next step.
That is it.
Faith is built one act of obedience at a time.
And the first step is usually the hardest.
And the most important.
[15:00] You Do Not Need a Human Signature
You do not need a human signature on a divine assignment.
God called you.
God equipped you.
And God does not need someone else’s approval to follow through on what He started in you.
Stop waiting for permission from people who did not give you the calling in the first place.
Here is your challenge this week:
What is one thing God has already asked you to do that you have been waiting for someone else to confirm?
Write it down.
Then take one step toward it.
Not the whole journey.
Just one step.
[16:45] From This Day Forward
And I want to leave you with this.
Because maybe you are listening right now thinking:
“But I already planted the wrong things.”
Wrong relationships.
Wrong agreements.
Wrong patterns.
Wrong idols.
Wrong coping mechanisms.
Maybe you are carrying shame for what your life produced in seasons where you were disconnected from God.
I understand that.
Deeply.
But listen to what God says in Haggai 2.
“I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me…”
And then God says something so powerful:
“Consider now from this day forward…”
From this day forward.
God is not standing over you shaming you for what was planted before.
He is asking:
Is the seed still in the barn?
Do you still have seed?
Do you still trust Him enough to sow again?
To believe again?
To obey again?
To try again?
Because the enemy wants you frozen in shame.
Too ashamed to move.
Too ashamed to believe.
Too ashamed to plant again.
But God says:
Consider from this day forward.
Not backward.
Forward.
When we sow from flesh, wounds, idols, and lies…
Destruction follows.
But when God sows…
It always bears fruit.
Always.
Jezreel.
God will sow.
Not just into you.
Through you.
Into the earth.
Into other women.
Into generations.
Into territory darkness thought it owned.
And maybe that is why the enemy fought your identity so hard.
Because he was terrified of what God would produce through your surrendered life.
So no, we do not stay buried in shame over what was planted before.
We repent.
We realign.
We sow again with God.
And this time…
We trust the One holding the seed.
Because Jesus is not finished with His daughters.
Not even close.
[20:00] Final Charge
Let this be the moment you stop agreeing with the lie that your life is ruined, wasted, too broken, or too far gone.
That is not the Gospel.
The Gospel is resurrection.
The Gospel is redemption.
The Gospel is that God takes barren places and makes them fruitful again.
So from this day forward…
What will you plant?
And will you trust God enough to sow again?
If this episode spoke to you, subscribe and share it with another woman who needs courage to obey God.
And next episode, we are confronting a lie that has silenced more women than almost anything else:
The lie that your voice is too much.
Because silence out of fear is not humility.
It is captivity.
And it is time to talk about the fire that has been shut up in your bones.
Until next time…
Stay rooted in truth.
And live dangerous.
